In your opinion, what makes a great whiskey? I think it has to have a— it's a little bit cliché— but a sense of place. It has to reflect where it was made. It has to reflect the maker. I think it has to reflect its storage situation. I think it has to reflect the wood that it's in. It has to reflect the grain source and how it was handled and grown and all those things. You put all those things together and one piece could not be right and kind of throw the whiskey off. But when everything's working and it gets there and it's what you expect. It should be drawing this from the wood. It should be drawing that from the wood. It should be drawing this from this storage situation. And when it's spot on, you're like, “This is exactly where I was going with this.”
