An introduction took an unexpected turn at dinner.
Lisa arrived at a Louisville whiskey gathering doing consulting work. Walter was part of an introduction. Then, as she remembers it, the conversation changed: he wanted to hire her himself.
Dinner and hours of talking in NuLu became part of the path to Whiskey Thief. A room full of whiskey people can lead to plenty of conversation. This one led to a new job.

So how did you get started at Whiskey Thief? I was at a whiskey summit in Louisville, and Walter introduced me to somebody. He asked me what I was doing, and I said, “I’ve been consulting all over.” And he said, “I have a friend here that might want to hire you,” right? And so Walter sat between the two of us at dinner, and Walter’s like, “Hey, wait a minute. I think I want to hire you,” after we started talking. So, yeah. Sounds like Walter, doesn’t it? He has me come to the NuLu location and we spent hours talking about, you know, what he’s looking at and what he’s looking towards and all those sorts of things. And we decided maybe I could bring a little bit of value to the team, and yeah, so here I am. That’s awesome.
