Most stops lead nowhere. That’s part of the hunt.
Antique shops run in Larry’s family. His grandparents and parents loved the search, and he still takes a birthday road trip with his mom to look for vintage finds. If you’ve been in his bars, you’ve seen some of what came home.
Looking for whiskey takes the same patience. Most of the effort goes unrewarded, Larry says. That makes the right discovery feel like treasure. He and Susie don’t have a number of barrels to fill. They find them when they’re right.

I wonder what treasures we're going to find. So I've got a history of antiquing. If you've ever been in my bars, you've probably seen that I like to decorate with authentic vintage stuff. I think there's an authenticity to it, and my family's always kind of had that kind of a hunt in them, like my grandparents, my parents, they've all, you know, been antiquers. Me and my mom still do a road trip at least once a year, Usually around her birthday, to go antique shopping. Because antiquing and hunting for barrels or hunting for vintage whiskey you have to love that process because about 90% of your efforts go unrewarded and so whenever you do find something it truly feels like a treasure We don't have a number of barrels we have to find. We just find barrels when they're right,
